Dusit Suites Hotel Ratchadamri, Bangkok

The staff were polite and friendly, and I liked the well-equipped gym and relaxing pool area. But for this price, the rooms and cleanliness fell short. There was dust in several corners and even hair from a previous guest on the pillow, which was unsettling. The furnishings look yellowed and worn, and maintenance and cleaning both need considerable attention. The property must have looked modern and stylish when it first opened, but the guest rooms now seem noticeably tired. Without a thorough renovation, I think other places at the same cost offer a more comfortable stay.

The location is great, and the rooms are a good size with lovely balconies. The staff welcomed me warmly, and the café Shop is good. The building feels old, though, with a 90s, 00s feeling overall. My shower kept switching between hot and cold, and with rooms on the lower floors too, it doesn't feel like a very good deal for the price.

The suite was massive and the beds were good. Breakfast also worked well for our gluten-free needs, and the staff were friendly, especially the smiling woman at breakfast whose name I've unfortunately forgotten. The hotel isn't bad, but calling it an "upper upperscale" hotel is misleading. For that, you'd need the nearby Dusit Thani. Much of the place still has its original fittings. There seems to be a hot-water problem: one shower didn't work and the other kept going hot and cold. Daily room service was missed on the first day, and the app they encourage guests to use only got chat replies intermittently.

The rooms were spacious and had everything we needed. The hotel was clean and smelled great, and we'd be happy to come back. We stayed twice on our trip to Thailand, at the beginning and again at the end. It's only a few minutes' walk from the train station and within walking distance of central areas. The team were consistently kind and ready to help. Myo at the front desk was especially helpful and courteous. He was already in touch with me through the hotel app before we arrived, then continued assisting us during our stay.
