Cocoa Valley Resort (SHA Extra Plus)

Their cocoa-based drinks and treats are worth a try, but I wouldn't order the tiramisu. It had no mascarpone and came across more like coffee cake with a layer of very sweet whipped cream. The place draws plenty of tourists, though the food and drinks didn't live up to expectations. The tiramisu was really fake!!!

The mountain view is inspiring, and the rooms are the coolest I've ever seen. I’d love a house designed along the same lines. There's a big outdoor balcony area with a bathtub. Breakfast was poor, though, so skip it and you'll have a great experience.

We stayed in the popular Blue Room, which was roomy, clean, and comfortable, with a cozy bed that made for a good night's sleep. The staff welcomed us with big smiles and excellent service, and the tasty welcome drink made with local cocoa products was a nice touch. It's a convenient and comfortable place in Pua District, with both rooms and a café. I'd highly recommend staying here.

The coffee shop and employees were wonderful, and the sheets and towels were very clean. The rooms felt a bit old, though, and the bathroom sewer smell was really disgusting at night and early in the morning. All three rooms our family had smelled putrid. I tried my usual trick of putting a wet washcloth over the drains, but it didn't help at all. After decades of traveling around Thailand and Laos with my Thai wife, I can say the photos are deceiving: there was no pool, and although you might think you're in nature, the property is right above a very loud road from the South.
