Easy Planet Bangkok Surawong

I’ve stayed here on several visits and have generally been happy with what you get for the price. It’s now called Easy Planet instead of Red Planet. The location is decent, around a 10-minute walk from BTS Chongnonsi or Saladaeng, and there’s a 7-11 right next door. Staff are friendly and deal with issues quickly. Nights are quiet, though some room doors are hard to close and can slam noisily if you force them. The hotel seems fairly new, maybe five years old, and is mostly well maintained, although the bathroom has a flaw.

It was around 30 euros a night, and the hotel was quiet with no noise. There are plenty of services and the night market nearby, though the metro is about 25 minutes away. I was in room 303. It was small but clean, as was the quite small bathroom. Supplies were very limited: two towels, a small kettle, and two mugs, nothing else.

For two people this is good value, as long as you’re mostly out sightseeing in BKK. The room is small but functional, and there’s a 7-11 right in front. I do wish there had been a phone in the room. At 2am, just as I was about to shower, someone tried my door several times. I had to find a way to call the lobby. It turned out to be another guest who’d mixed up his room number, luckily. I wasn’t pleased that the lobby never tried to contact me; I had to reach them myself.

I extended my stay, so I did like the place. The location is great, it’s clean, and the shower has good water pressure. The front desk was very helpful, but there’s no phone in the room. Traffic noise can be bothersome, and I had to complain before they changed the linens and towels.
