Holiday Inn Express Bangkok Sathorn Hotel

The staff were great about sharing information and helping when I needed it. They came across as genuine, grateful people, and always had a smile and a friendly conversation. I hate giving a lower rating to these Express hotels in Thailand because the staff are so good. The room size, fridge, and cleanliness were fine, but the bed felt too stiff for me. I left the TV on one movie channel and wish the hotels would add casting options. Food is nearby and can be delivered, but I wanted late-night food from the hotel or a microwave. This was also the only Bangkok hotel I've stayed in so far that didn't offer in-room massage, which counts against returning. The location is another thing to consider. It feels tucked into a back alley, with a short walk to the main street. Walking in other directions turns up interesting places, but there's no great view and the attractions don't feel especially close. Patpong is walkable, and you can get a Grab or Bolt anywhere. It's a good budget-friendly stay, though paying a bit more elsewhere wouldn't hurt. On a future trip I may return to the IHG hotel in Silom, which suits more of my needs and addresses these complaints about this Sathorn hotel, while still being close to the same area.

On my first trip to Bangkok, I wanted to see some temples, and the tourist desk in the corner was very helpful arranging that. The night market was just a short walk away. One evening I needed some things printed, and the staff kindly did it for me. Room service was excellent, and they kept me well stocked with bottled water. Breakfast came with the room and was all right. As an American, it took a little getting used to, but the key thing for me was that they had coffee.

Nothing offensive happened, and the room was tidy and clean with friendly, great staff. I stayed in room 207 for a couple of days. On the second and fourth nights, while I was sleeping alone, the bed kept moving every minute. I wasn't too scared, so I didn't report it. I wanted to see what might happen next, but nothing else did. If you'd like to experience something like that, you could choose the room, though I'm not sure it would need your help the way it seemed to need mine. I still give five stars for the service and location. Good luck.

Breakfast was quite basic, with only a few items, though they seemed freshly made. The soups weren't nice and could use some work. We stayed two nights and had a good time. The rooms and washrooms are small, but clean and well maintained, and the staff are polite. The full-length mirror was a big plus, as was being just 300 metres from Chong Nonsi metro station.
