The two sisters who run the Impd hostel were the highlight of our stay. They speak excellent English and put real care into making guests comfortable. When we mentioned enjoying traditional food, they arranged a huge northern Thai breakfast with help from their auntie: curry, egg with Thai vegetables, fish, homemade sauces, and rice. The next day they made Chinese-Thai fusion vegetable-stuffed pancakes. During Songkran, they called around to find open restaurants and massage places, worked out holiday transport to Khao Yai national park, wrote directions in Thai for people who didn't speak English, and helped reserve a room where no one spoke English. They took the time to make our trip easier. The communal areas were the nicest we saw on our 3-week Thailand/Myanmar trip, with huge bags and pillows to lounge on and a big breakfast table. Wi-Fi was excellent in the rooms and shared spaces. Breakfast was usually western, with toast, spreads, fried eggs, juice, or ramen noodles. The food and snacks were available 24/7, and cold water and juice from the purification system were free. The hostel had only recently opened, in Jan 2017, and everything was still new, clean, and well maintained. The modern, friendly design uses lots of white. There are 2 or 3 private rooms as well as dorm beds. We stayed in a king-size room with a TV, AC, shelves, and mirror, basically all we needed. It had no window, though the room next door did. You can request a room with a window when booking. The private bathrooms are outside the rooms, with 3 down the hall, one per room; you claim yours when you arrive. Getting around was easy and affordable. The skytrain stairway is right outside, with direct rides to Siam and Silom. For Mo Chit, the big bus terminal, we changed once, and for the main airport, BKK, twice. Trips cost 20-40 bhat. Nearby buses go to the king palace and other famous sites. Some buses without AC were free, while the fancier ones cost up to 20 bhat. With public transport close by, we saved time and money, avoided traffic, and didn't get ripped off by tuk tuks or taxis. This was our best accommodation on the trip, and well worth the few extra euros compared with Bangkok's really cheap places. The transport access can save you money too.
