Krung Tone Hostel

I stayed in shared room 201, a four-person dorm. It was comfortable, quiet, and excellent value, with a lift and pleasant common areas. The air conditioning was excellent, and the room and bathroom were very clean. The four single beds had comfortable mattresses, good pillows, warm blankets, curtains for privacy, a night light, and one hook each. A window brought in natural light, with a curtain available too. The bathroom was inside the room with a toilet, shower, and sink. Body wash, shampoo, and a very good quality towel were provided, but there was no hand soap. There was also a toilet and sink on the ground floor, another on the first floor, and one on the second floor in addition to the room's bathroom. The lockers inside the room were very noisy. The room door was noisy as well. At night, other people's bed lights were annoying. I'd add a bedside table and more hooks by the beds. It's close to Icon Siam but far from the main tourist area. The dorm room was roomy, and the four beds were all on the floor, with no upper bunks. The toilets were large and very clean, and the air-conditioned living area was huge. They also provide free coffee, bread, and butter.

I've stayed here twice, once in a private room and once in the dorm. The shared areas have plenty of space on the ground floor: two big tables with chairs, a couple of sofas, a desk with coffee, tea, bread and fruit for guests, plus some nicer chairs. WiFi reaches everywhere and is fast and reliable enough for working online. The dorm was easily the best shared room I've tried. It's a large open room with just four single beds, each screened off all around by thick curtains, so you get a lot of privacy. The mattress was comfortable and the bedding clean. There's a bathroom with a shower in the dorm, kept clean every day and in excellent condition, plus another toilet outside and a large area with sitting pouffes. I liked that the owners seem to have arranged the space for guest comfort instead of packing in as many beds as possible. That's a refreshing approach, especially after seeing so-called luxury hostels fit triple the beds into half the space. My private room was spacious, clean, and sunny. The furnishings are pretty basic, and a small extra wardrobe would help, but it was still very nice and good value. The bathroom was also large and very clean, and they supplied water bottles daily. It's not right in the city center, but it's a convenient base for getting around, with lots of food options nearby. A great place to stay, and probably the best value I've found during my frequent trips to BKK.

The hostel is a little out of the way, but the price is great and the staff are very nice. Curtains around each bed give you a sense of having your own space. It's not especially social, which suited me because I like a quiet place.
