BB Glass House

There’s a lot nearby to make getting around Bangkok easy on a budget, including a railway station, boat pier, bus stops, laundries and local markets within walking distance. Plenty of local places to eat, plus countless 7-11s close by. The bathrooms and refrigerator were good, and the wifi worked well. There’s a shared microwave, but no iron, washing machine or kettle. Great value for the price.

The room and staff were good, and I liked having separate blankets on the bed, but the street noise made it impossible for me to fall asleep. I’d driven from another province and was tired on the way back, so I booked quickly hoping to get some proper rest. Instead, the noisy refrigerator and cigarette smell in the room made for a nightmare combination 🥲. Fine for a short break, maybe, but for a full night’s sleep I’d go somewhere else.

I’d happily come back, and I’d recommend BB Glass House to anyone staying a short time. It’s next to BB House, the same accommodation in a different building, with the main road between them. I first checked in at BB House and felt welcome in both, but chose BB Glass House. Dteo/Dtaeo (sorry if I’ve got the spelling wrong), the manager, was warm and fun to talk to. Jim at reception was friendly too, as was Frame, the lovely night staff member. I enjoyed chatting with her about her story, background, Bangkok and life in general. I was glad she was close to my age. The place has a relaxing, lively feel, and everything was clean and organized. Residents can use the piano and guitar, and I felt welcome to play the piano whenever I wanted. I tried the guitar too, and it was in tune. The spacious lobby and lounge are tidy, with drinks in the fridge, snacks for sale and coffee, though they don’t serve food. Small local restaurants are visible through the glass doors. My favorite was KO Pilot across the street, which serves homemade Burmese food mixed with Thai and Chinese flavors from 2pm until 4:30am. The people there were friendly and welcoming, and the food was so delicious I’d put it in my top 3 ever. Sometimes a receptionist plays music in the lobby, which adds to the atmosphere. My room was clean and fresh, with two water bottles, a small fridge, TV, AC and a good bathroom with a hot shower. The double bed was really comfortable. Thank you!

This was my second stay. The room was large and very clean, and the price was good. I was a little startled at first because I could feel a strong jolt whenever a heavy truck went past. Nearby, there’s a sticky rice with mango place and a roasted duck restaurant.
