Dust, ants, a terrible smell, and lots of mosquitoes outside. This was the worst hotel I’ve ever seen, more like a ghost house than a hotel. There was no chair, TV, or fridge, and the owners were rude with a bad attitude. I’ve never seen such high fines: 200 baht for single spots (for wash), 2,000 baht for damages, and 5,000 baht for smoking, or leave now or they will call police. Yes, they can smell. Rooms are not safety. You have to carry your garbage outside when you check out or pay a 100 fine. Bye bye forever 👋👋

I wouldn’t recommend this place for a family stay. It feels more like a hostel room than the 3-star hotel described in Google reviews. The location is very remote, at a dead end, and you have to walk at least 650 meters to reach the main road. There’s no chair, TV, or other basic essentials. The mattress sits on a cement block instead of a proper bed or cot, which made it feel more like a mortuary than a bedroom. Fines are strict for everything, and guests have to take out their own garbage. You also have to leave your footwear on the ground floor and walk barefoot to your room.

I loved this very minimal, stylish guest house and was glad I found it. The owner was friendly and kind during my two-night stay. Try the homemade bread and kombucha at the house. It’s in a very quiet spot, a 10-minute walk from the BTS yellow line. If you like Thai street food, Chok chai 4 Rd is a 12-minute drive away. Highly recommended if you work as a nomad or enjoy local places. I’ll definitely come back next time.

Thank you Ann and Christian for helping make my stay in Thailand comfortable, and for opening your beautiful hotel to me. Whenever I return to Bangkok, I want to stay here again. Home ‘81 is tucked behind the Imperial World Shopping Mall on a typical Thai alleyway, and it feels like a home away from home, thanks to you and the wonderful staff. Everything seems brand new and is extremely well cared for. The lounge has floor cushions, and the rooms have massive king size beds. It all felt so perfect that I can’t believe how lucky I was to find the place. It’s a beautiful boutique hotel with good value and a quality touch. There’s a no-shoes-upstairs rule, but the place is so clean I think they should make it no shoes inside at all. Thank you

Of the four places I stayed in Bangkok, this was my favorite. It’s a quiet, peaceful guesthouse in a local neighbourhood, with friendly people. If that’s what you like, this is the one.
