Hom Hostel Cooking Club

The worst hostel experience I’ve had in Bangkok. I won’t go into everything that went wrong, just what happened at checkout. I’d packed my things and was cleaning the room when someone opened the door without knocking, before 12 o’clock. The receptionist told me rudely that I had to leave and gave me 15 minutes, even though I was naked in the room. It felt disrespectful and completely unprofessional. I stayed six nights and paid everything in cash, yet she still came to tell me I had 15 minutes to go. The woman at reception always had an angry expression and made me feel unwelcome. I felt she treated me differently as a foreigner and tourist. I don’t recommend staying here, and I won’t forget this experience.

I stayed from 20-23 Apr 2019. The garden was lovely, the place was clean, the beds comfortable, and the free breakfast tasty. Service was excellent and the wifi was fast. The lockers were a little small, but worked for what I needed. The toilets are quite far from the rooms and are also used by people from Nana Square, so there isn’t much privacy. I did get plenty of time alone there in the early and late hours, though, so it wasn’t too bad.

The prices were fair, the guesthouse was clean, and the woman at reception was lovely and very helpful. It has both dorms and rooms. I stayed one day in the e bedroom and saw fresh food growing out back. At night, you have to go through the basement parking lot by Burger king to reach the top floorboard.

The breakfasts were out of this world, and taking coffee and food onto the patio made a great start to the day. The place was clean, safe, and beautifully decorated, with wonderful staff. Beds are huge and comfy, and the en suite shower was small but clean and adequate. Toilets aren’t en suite, which was fine and not much of a bother, though you might want to avoid drinking too much water before bed. The location is great: Terminal 21 is within walking distance, the train station is nearby, and there are lots of taxis around for getting anywhere in Bangkok. I’d recommend it to solo travellers, couples, and families.
