The location is the big draw at @Hua Lamphong Hostel. MRT Hua Lamphong is only a few meters away, and there's a 7-Eleven within 300 meters that's open 24 hours. It's easy to get around to places like Song Wat cafes, Yaowarat street food, Phra Nakhon and the Grand Palace, plus Silom and Lumpini for shopping. I stayed in a Standard Double Room on the 5th floor, which seems to be all private rooms. It was comfortable for two, though not large enough to open several big suitcases at once. Dorms are available too, for less money but with less privacy. The room had a TV, air conditioner, hair dryer, kettle, tea and coffee set, small fridge, and two bottles of water. There was also a safe, but mine didn't work, possibly because its battery was dead. The bathroom was a decent size and had soap and shampoo, but the sink was small and awkward to use with the shelf above it. It's good value for the location, especially if you want to explore Bangkok by MRT.
Room service cleaned our spacious room every day, and it was very clean. They also supplied water, towels, and toiletries. The restaurant was excellent, especially the smoothies, and the staff were fabulous. The hotel is centrally located beside a metro and train station, though we mostly got around with Grab because it was so convenient. There are three 7-Eleven stores nearby. We heard quite a bit of street noise, but earplugs were provided.
We enjoyed our stay at Hua Lamphong Hostel. The rooms are roomy and kept clean, and the whole staff is friendly. There's a good range of tasty food at the restaurant. The subway and train stations are right beside it, other transport is easy to reach, and Chinatown is walkable. Street noise can come through at night since the windows aren't soundproof, but they provide earplugs 👌🏻
The location was the one good thing about the hotel. I spent the last day of my Thailand trip here and wish I hadn't. The rooms didn't look like the pictures, the AC took ages to cool things down, and the WiFi was so bad I couldn't even book a cab. The towels were poor too. Two stars overall.
On my second stay at @Hua Lamphong Hotel, it still impressed me. It's well placed for MRT, the train station, Chinatown Bangkok, massage places, 7-Eleven, and plenty of other conveniences. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed. Staff have been friendly and professional both times, and it's very good value.
