Lazy Sunday Hostel

I’ve stayed here three times before, and the location and room are still superb. But this check-in was awful, and the front desk staff member’s attitude has put me off coming back. Hurrible! I only wanted to leave my backpack with clothes for two hours before check-in. I wasn’t leaving my wallet or laptop. She said storage was full and told me to leave it outside the room, with no other option offered. I asked twice if there really wasn’t room to store it, and she looked annoyed and repeated that everything was full. I said I had no choice and would leave it there because I couldn’t carry the big pack around. She told me to read the hotel’s bag storage policy carefully because there had been cases before, and asked me to sign a policy paper just to leave the bag. She also kept telling me and another guest that nobody would be there because it was lunchtime. I was laughing at that. In the end, she took my bag to the staff room, which had plenty of storage. I understand that valuables shouldn’t be left in storage, and I wasn’t asking to leave any. It was the way she handled it: no helpful option, just an annoyed look and the instruction to leave it outside. This is the first time I’ve had such poor service here.

The staff were welcoming, friendly, and helpful, and the neighborhood was pleasant at night without being too busy. We had a private room with its own bathroom. It was spacious, and the bathroom was big too, with a very nice shower.

They cancelled my booking the day before I was due to arrive, even though I’d made it three months earlier, then refused to refund me. I sent three emails and they stopped replying. Scammers.

We paid about the same as at other budget places, but the accommodation was far better. Our private room was quiet for somewhere in central Bangkok, with luxury bathrooms and hot showers. The staff were kind, and we could use the little cafe inside for free. Cleanest and most comfortable budget hostel I’ve stayed in Thailand.
