Lub d Bangkok Siam – New Look, Across from MBK & Skytrain Access Hotel

I booked a compact private room with an ensuite bathroom. The ceiling was low, but I felt comfortable, and everything was within easy reach. Staff were super friendly, and the hotel ran daily activities where guests could join in and meet people, which could be especially nice if you’re traveling alone. The location is ideal if you want the city center and easy access to the sky train: the BTS stairs are right outside, MBK Shopping is across the street, and there’s a convenience store next door. The Art Gallery, Siam Center, Siam Paragon, and Jim Thompson House are all within walking distance. I stayed just after the reopening following renovation. One thing to know: light traffic and corridor noise may bother sensitive sleepers.

For a short stay, this is a decent place to sleep in a very central spot. The BTS and MBK Centre are less than a minute away. Our four-bed dorm was very small, but fortunately there were only two of us during our three nights, since there wouldn’t have been room for more bags or luggage. The room was clean and housekeeping came daily, and the bathrooms were spacious and clean. It didn’t feel like a social hostel, as we didn’t talk to anyone during our stay. What spoiled an otherwise okay experience was missing items. A small shopping bag was moved from an empty bed, which may have been our mistake since it technically wasn’t our bed, though nobody else used the room while we were there. The bag was returned with items missing. The receptionist apologized and tried to help by calling the cleaner, but the cleaner’s response, relayed through reception, was that we had ‘lost’ the items before she cleaned the room. That simply wasn’t true. It’s a real shame.

Bangthatong was a highlight for me, with loads of restaurants and bars an easy walk away, plus street food and little local finds nearby. The location is hard to beat: National Stadium BTS is right outside, MBK is across the way, and other malls are close too. My renovated room felt cosy as soon as I walked in. The materials were great, and the warm lighting made it feel like a little cocoon after a day exploring Bangkok. Check-in was easy, the team were welcoming, and there were fun games when I arrived. The staff kept offering useful ideas for places to visit and eat, and the familiar Lub d feel from other locations was there too. I’d happily come back.

Getting around was easy, with public transport right outside, and there was plenty of good food within a 10-minute walk. I especially enjoyed exploring the street food nearby. The recently renovated room was really comfortable, and check-in went smoothly with friendly staff and some fun games. I’d stay again, 10/10.
