Lub D Bangkok Silom Hostel

We had a pleasant enough stay for the money, though the place felt older than its photos and website suggest. The room was spacious, the A/C worked well inside, and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. They spoke good English, which made things easier. There are stairs to the rooms and no lift, but the porter carried our bags. It’s fairly central for walking, with plenty of taxis on Silom Rd nearby, though public transport takes quite a walk to reach. One issue came up with the hot water in our room. We asked to move, and the staff sorted it without any fuss.

The staff really made this small hotel stand out. They were attentive and helpful, even coming up to our room at 1 am to handle a minor repair without hesitation. We had lots of privacy, and the bed was super comfortable. The room and bathroom were a little tiny, but both were very clean. It’s about nine minutes from the nearby DTS metro station. There’s no elevator, though porters help with bags.

The rooms were clean, comfortable, and safe, and perfectly decent. The online photos make the place look a bit fancier than it is, and there’s some wear around the edges. The funky wooden bathtub is cool, though the grout around it looked a little manky. If your room is close to the water pump, be ready for a lot of banging noise.

There’s no lift, and the Wi-Fi was a problem throughout. Our first room was small, dark, and unlike the photos, so we asked for the suite we’d booked. They moved us to a larger room on the top floor, but the Wi-Fi didn’t reach it and we had to use the internet in the lobby. We chose the suite for the bathtub, but it was old, dirty, and full of hair. It also leaked, so we couldn’t fill it for a bath. When we complained, the receptionist only spoke Mandarin, which made it difficult to explain the problem.
