Mint Hostel

The 14-bed dorm was brighter, roomier, and cleaner than pricier dorms nearby. It's a great-value hostel for low-budget, easygoing travelers who want to meet people, share meals, and spend warm evenings on a beautiful street with lots of young, free-spirited people.

The location is good, and according to the hostel's policy, the air conditioning only runs at night. But the room smelled really bad, the sheets clearly weren't clean, and the shower was broken and unusable. I couldn't last more than an hour because I didn't feel safe there. I definitely wouldn't recommend it, especially to couples.

After 11 pm, people in the dorm kept playing audio on their phones with no regard for anyone's need to sleep. There are no night-time rules at all. An arcade would be more peaceful.

It's a convenient walk to the old town, and might work if you only need somewhere to crash for a night or two. For a longer stay, the tiny common room, lack of a kitchen, and just two bathroom stalls made it hard to live there. Service was mediocre at best. Check-in is only from 2 to 10 pm, and the guy was late and unhelpful. The bed's blanket smelled of mildew and body odor, the mattress didn't match what was advertised, and the AC didn't work. Everything was dirty, too.
