Montana Hotel & Residence

This was my second stay here in six months. The front desk staff were especially helpful, making check-in smooth and allowing a very late checkout without a charge. There was a kitchen and a machine in the room. They provided the utensils and towels I needed, and cleaned the room every day. The staff were very hospitable. I'll keep coming back. Thanks.

The room seemed recently refurbished, was clean and well equipped, and came with reliable free WiFi. There was a comfortable bed, microwave, washing machine, water cooker, fridge, and large TV, though it only had Thai channels. The staff were friendly and helpful. But this isn't a place I'd choose for a long stay or a holiday. It's far from the city center, there's almost nothing nearby, and walking around the area isn't pleasant. The hotel is beside a noisy freeway, and the AC was loud too. The restaurant doesn't seem to operate, and at 1900 baht a day, having no breakfast at all is unacceptable for the price. Taxis have trouble finding it. It's okay for a quick stop, but don't be fooled by the 4 or 5 star reviews. At best, it's an overpriced 3 star motel.

The staff were polite, but the stay didn't live up to what the listing led me to expect. I booked partly because of the advertised free airport transfer, then was told it wasn't available. The kitchenette had no pots, pans, or utensils, so it wasn't usable. There was no AC remote, and the unit blew cold air continuously, so I had to get up at night to adjust it by hand. I stayed eight nights, and was charged 500 baht for a small towel with a bit of coffee on it. They said it couldn't be cleaned and offered no alternative, which felt unreasonable when it should have been easy to wash. The hotel is right by a busy road, with traffic noise at all hours, making it hard to relax.

The rooms are spacious and okay, and most of the old facilities still work, though the shower pressure kept changing. The hotel photos on booking sites are misleading about its condition. They look to be 10+ years old, and the decorative touches have since been removed. There's a lot of empty space for a cafe or restaurant, but neither is functioning. Staffing is thin, and the lobby is about the only real facility. The air conditioner is loud, and so is the huge highway right next door, all night long. There's not much around and it's a bad area for walking. I'm baffled by the good ratings, this is NOT a 4 star hotel.
