My Hostel Ratchada

The staff are really friendly, and the location is great, right next to Lat Phrao MRT station. I usually stay here in Bangkok when I'm traveling with my son, but this time the mosquitoes made it a rough visit. I saw them breeding in the fountain, and I think some got in through the bathroom ventilation while we slept. They kept biting us, so we had to buy repellent at 7 eleven. It would have been five stars before, but the mosquito problem is a real flaw now.

There are two MRT lines meeting near the hostel, so getting around from here is convenient. I thought the Block A dorms cost too much for their quality and how far away they are. In my opinion, they should be no more than 300 THB, ideally closer to 200 THB a night. The four-bed dorm doesn't seem worth it. I'd pick the cheaper 15-bed room, though I don't know if it's separated by gender. I only saw one shared bathroom.

Zone B is quiet and nice and cold. If you're booking a dorm, try to get that zone, since Zone A means a lot of stairs and its aircon isn't great. People say traffic noise is bad, but with earplugs I couldn't hear it at all.

Austin at reception was really helpful and friendly. I asked for a quiet room and he found me the quietest one, so I'd stay here again on my next visit.
