Narastay Phrom Phong

The beds were incredibly hard, like sleeping on planks, and the shower gave us cold water after working for only a minute. None of the three of us managed to get even lukewarm water for the rest of the stay. The bathroom and room were questionable for cleanliness, and there were slippers left behind by a previous guest. At night, light came through the large gap under the door, so we had to block it with a towel. Noise was another problem: you could hear people on the stairs and doors slamming, along with sounds from outside. Our family room for three was tiny, with awkward steps between the beds and bathroom that felt unsafe. We got only two water bottles for three people. When I asked housekeeping for another the next day, the staff member looked angry and handed it over reluctantly. We were also told an extra pillow would cost Bht120, even though we’d only been given one per person. The luggage lift only worked from the third floor, so staff told us to carry our bags upstairs ourselves. One of us was injured and another was an elderly woman struggling with the stairs, yet we ended up carrying six bags up four flights. Check-in staff were unfriendly, and a late arrival didn’t even get a smile. We had endless trouble reaching the hotel before the trip. They didn’t answer emails or phone calls. There may be a few positives: a large fridge, an okay location, windows that open, clean sheets, and working wifi. Those are basic expectations, though, so I’m not sure what else to say in favor of Narastay.

The staff were especially welcoming, and the price felt fair for the room. It’s close enough to the green line, with a 7-eleven right outside. The rooms are compact, and getting to reception means finding a hard-to-spot passage and going up to the third floor. There’s no elevator, which may be tough for older guests. For a large family, waiting to find a taxi on the busy road isn’t ideal. It’s better to call one to the hotel or walk to the corner. In general, it was a fine place to stay.

It wasn’t a pleasant stay compared with other Bangkok hotels I’ve tried. There’s no elevator and it was noisy at night. I was given the wrong room, though that wasn’t the hotel’s fault.

The room was great, and the location felt fair for the price. But the traffic noise was relentless, with engines roaring late into the night as if they were right beside you. There’s no lift for guests, only a small one for luggage, and it stops running after nine.
