Noir Cafe and Hostel Chinatown Bangkok Hostel

I slept surprisingly well here, even without earplugs. The hostel is central and it’s easy to get around by Grab. Everything was spotless, and the bathrooms, showers, and AC all worked perfectly. Great if you’re after somewhere affordable, clean, quiet, and central.

I only spent about 10 minutes there, but lost the fees for all 3 booked days because they refused to refund me. It was one of my worst experiences in Bangkok. The photos led me to expect a cozy, authentic place, but on arrival I found a cluttered room full of boxes, nothing like the welcome shown online. The dorm was dark, dirty, and unbearably hot. The owner switched on the AC, but it didn’t cool the room. A notice said it was set to 24°C. Staff insisted it worked, though it took a long time to cool and didn’t seem to function properly. When I asked for help, they were dismissive and gave me contradictory answers. The hostel was nearly empty, possibly because of the heat and poor ventilation. I asked for my money back because I couldn’t stay, and they kept refusing. The owner just acknowledged me when I said I’d share my experience. The hostel advertises a café, but staff confirmed they no longer serve food, despite the photos. The room pictures on booking platforms also didn’t match the dark, unkempt condition I saw. Very frustrating and disappointing. I’d strongly advise avoiding this place.

I never got to stay here because of a booking mix-up. Access is also difficult, and parking in the private area costs 40 baht per hour, which makes the decision to stay even tougher. After the booking fell through, I figured I’d be better off at one of Bangkok’s many hostels with a more convenient location. Disappointing.

It’s my second time staying at this small hostel, and I recommend it. The 8-bed dorm has curtains and lockers, and the shower comes with shampoo and shower gel. It’s in a great central spot but still very quiet at night.
