I spent 8 nights here because it was the most affordable private room I could find in Bangkok that wasn't too far from the BTS. The staff were friendly and everything was clean, but the room had some serious drawbacks. The bed sat on a raised wooden platform, accessed by a ladder, with storage cubbies underneath. The middle of the mattress was completely compressed, so I could feel the wooden base through it. I thought they could have put the bed on the floor and used the wall space for shelves instead. The shower temperature was impossible to get comfortable, either cold or scalding hot. There was no soundproofing, and every noise from the narrow alley below seemed to echo into the room. A passing motorbike in the middle of the night would wake me, as if I were sleeping with the window open even though it was closed. The place seemed to have plenty of potential, but these problems were too much for me to recommend it.
The best thing about this place is the location for the price. My parents stayed here, my sister came twice, and I eventually stayed too. The rooms are quirky and oddly decorated, but that adds to their charm, and the staff are friendly and helpful. There are loads of street food stalls and inexpensive but good restaurants nearby, plus a 7 Eleven right next door. Anyone who's been to Thailand knows that's handy. It's about a 15-minute walk to a BTS station and the main pier, where boats go to Iconsiam, Wat Arun, Chinatown, Wat Pho, the Grand Palace, and other stops. There's also a Central World nearby, a small department store with a grocery store in the basement and a fantastic food court at the back.
Coming from Canada, I was so glad to spend 3 days at this hotel. The staff were amazing, it was very clean and in a great location, and the room was huge and such good value. They made the trip memorable, and I was really impressed. It definitely didn't feel like a 3-star place, the service felt 5-star. Thank you so much!
The rooms themselves were fine, but the staff made the whole place feel toxic. At check-in they were friendly when I showed my Schengen passport, then reacted rudely and judgmentally when I presented my girlfriend's Indian passport. Later the owner accused us of smoking in the room, even though we didn't. The camera footage should show us going downstairs whenever we wanted to smoke. He tried to charge us 5000 bath and then argued about keeping our 500bath deposit. We won't come back, no matter how cheap it is.
The staff were polite and really helpful, and the place was clean and close to everything. I know the area, but wasn't sure what to expect from the hotel when I found it unexpectedly on Agoda and booked. The building turned out to be beautiful, with a rustic, vintage feel. I'd definitely stay again.
