The location worked well for me: it’s a short walk from the main road, with a supermarket, post office, and pharmacy nearby. Hotel R9 Bangkok is close to the city center but still peaceful, and I found the price very reasonable for the quality. My room was comfortable and had the essentials, including a refrigerator. Everyone was extremely polite and helpful, and the owner was available on WhatsApp around the clock, which made it easy to get in touch. Cuckoo, who looks after the property, deserves a special mention. She was one of the kindest and most helpful people I’ve met, spoke excellent English, and went out of her way to make guests comfortable. I had an amazing stay.

We paid for three nights because the location was convenient, but left to find somewhere else after less than two hours. I’ve never stayed somewhere worse. The photos and location shouldn’t fool you, there are plenty of good places for less money. It felt more like someone’s house than a hotel. Our room was small, old, and smelly, like a partly finished basement. The bathroom was one tiny open area with no separate wet and dry sections. The walls were so thin that we could hear people talking and even just walking past.
The bathroom was clean and had impressively strong water pressure, though it was compact and there was no towel bar. The rest of the room was clean and well equipped, with a TV, fridge, iron, clothes drying rack, cozy sofa, and a multi-switch outlet. I visited R9 Bangkok with a friend and found it comfortable and convenient overall. There are a few restaurants nearby, and having a 7-Eleven close by makes it easy to pick up essentials at any hour. It’s a solid, practical choice for staying in Bangkok.
The photos were misleading. We were a group of 10, and the place was actually on the alley side of the big building, not in the big building itself. The rooms and bathrooms were small, and it didn’t seem safe. It looked like a couple were Airbnb-ing their home. We didn’t stay at all, and it was a waste of money. I really don’t recommend it. The amount charged wasn’t worth it, and it wasn’t as advertised.
For a few days of business in Bangkok, this is good value in a great spot. It’s really a shophouse converted into rooms, with just one person on site to check you in. The air conditioning worked well and the bathroom was adequate, though the walls are thin and you can hear other guests.
