Watana Hotel

Being so close to Sutthisan station made getting around easy, and there were plenty of restaurants, convenience stores, and massage places nearby. I stayed in room 710 and loved it. The hotel was quiet and clean, the internet was strong, and the cleaning service came daily with fresh water, towels, and soap. Please give the sweet cats in the ground-floor garage some tuna or wet food if you stay! The pool area needs attention: some chairs were damaged, and it only gets sun for about two hours in the morning. The beds were hard enough that I could feel the springs.

The nearby 7-Eleven was convenient, and the location itself was acceptable, but nights were noisy and the atmosphere was terrible. The staff were unresponsive, inconsiderate, and incompetent. Most upsetting was the cleaning staff throwing away my belongings without telling me or getting my consent. I also left something behind when I checked out. Even though I left my luggage at the hotel for storage, nobody tried to contact me about the item. Given my experience, I wouldn't recommend this nightmarish hotel to anyone whose expectations might be affected by this review.

The view is awesome, and for the price the quality is hard to beat. I couldn't find a cheaper hotel that wasn't a hostel. Rooms are okay for what you pay, though small ants sometimes show up. They were never a serious problem for me. There's also a bathtub, which I think is unusual in Thailand. Room Wi-Fi is unusable, but in the lobby it reaches 300 Mbps. Room service and cleaning are available 24/7. Skip it if hard beds or insects are a dealbreaker for you.

The hotel is very old, and the service is utilitarian, which I can accept. What bothered me was the cleaning staff. When I arrived, the fridge was full of mold and smelled awful. I told the cleaner on my floor, and she sprayed so much perfume inside that my food tasted perfumed for a week. She'd also sit outside my door with her radio on, while staff talked at full volume as if they were in their moobahn. Dalad Lang.
