The neighborhood is really nice, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was a little tight for two, but manageable. It had no windows, though, and the air conditioning is so loud that you’ll want earplugs. You can’t really sleep without it either, since the room heats up fast. Still, a decent place.

The manager gets back to you quickly on WhatsApp, any time. There’s no physical reception, though, and the restroom is shared. Rooms are very small and get hot because the air conditioning isn’t managed well. Probably best for solo travelers or backpackers.

Shin hotel chinatown feels more like a serviced apartment than a hotel. Rooms are large and the bed is comfortable. There’s a shower and bathtub, with the basin and toilet out the back. You also get a fridge and hot water jug, but there’s no safe or place to hang wet towels. The curtains beside the bed don’t do much. Check-in and room service both run through apps. You can use Facebook, WeChat, WhatsApp, or Line. For check-in, install one ahead of time, scan the QR code, send a passport photo and reservation number, then wait for the front door and room codes by text. It can take a while.

Only eight units, so our whole group booked the place for two weeks. We had a spacious room and enjoyed our stay. There were a few hiccups, but at the price I could look past them. Staff were helpful whenever we contacted them, day or night. I’d recommend it if you’re not a Karen and can live with a few mishaps (:

The location worked really well for getting to Chinatown and the temples around it. The room was spacious, and the bathroom was the standout for us. Check-in through WhatsApp was easy, and staff were almost always reachable if we needed anything. We really enjoyed staying here.
