Silver Gold Garden Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel

We were in town for a graduation at the university, and the location worked really well: it’s near both the airport and the university, with a very nice street food market right outside offering lots of choices. The hotel itself is basic and simple, which suits the affordable price, and there’s plenty of parking. The garden and greenery are very well kept. Ask for a room in the new building, since the old building is just that. We barely heard any planes, and only saw a couple high overhead once, despite being close to the airport.

The room was average, the AC was old and kept tripping through the night, and the bathroom windows were transparent, which made me uncomfortable. I could also hear rats at night. But the worst part was the staff, and it overshadowed everything else. Check-in for Silver Gold Garden happens at the Golden Foyer Hotel next door, a setup that was poorly explained and badly managed. I arrived around 10 p.m. and two female receptionists were cold, dismissive, and shockingly rude. I showed my confirmed booking, but they said the agent might need 30 minutes to send it and told me to wait. They made no effort to follow up, offered no apology or reassurance, and didn’t call me back to confirm. If my Thai friends hadn’t stepped in and phoned them, I might have been stranded despite having a valid booking. The staff came across as annoyed clerks rather than hotel receptionists. They seemed to lack basic hospitality, communication skills, training, and accountability. That kind of treatment is unacceptable, especially at a hotel near an international airport. Poor management and unprofessional staff mean I wouldn’t book here again. I’d advise others to avoid it unless the staff attitude and training improve drastically.

The shuttle made getting to or from Suvarnabhumi much easier, and there are plenty of food choices just steps away. At check-in, the staff were warm, attentive, and helpful, a welcome start after a long trip. My room was comfortable and clean, with fresh linens, a good bed, and a layout that worked nicely. Everything seemed well maintained. I had a very pleasant stay at Silver Gold Garden and would happily come back for a short visit or a transit layover.

The convenient location helped, especially with my early flight, but I found the stay underwhelming. The room was dark and didn’t feel very premium, and the breakfast was passable at best. The hallway noise came right into the room, which was rough since I didn’t check in until around midnight. There was a sign at the desk telling guests to check in at the building next door, which felt odd. The welcome wasn’t very friendly, and I felt rushed the whole time. Maybe it was just me, but the buffet staff seemed to glare at me while I ate, as if they didn’t want me hanging around. If I hadn’t been concerned about that early flight, I probably wouldn’t recommend staying here.
