Sukhothai Hotel and Residence

I wouldn’t recommend staying here. There’s no lock on the toilet, even though we had a twin room. The receptionists were rude and impatient, with one woman making an angry face and seeming not to care. One man acted as if he couldn’t understand me. My accent was clearly understandable, and if you work at a hotel reception, you could at least learn English.

One night was plenty. I was in Bangkok on a business trip and wanted a reasonably priced hotel, but the stay was frustrating. I couldn’t figure out where my room was, which building or floor, and I couldn’t find the restaurant either. I ended up at the lobby lounge, where nobody came to take my order. At check-in, staff just tossed me a form to fill out, as if I were applying for a job. Usually the hotel copies my passport and handles the form, then I sign it. The staff seemed to lack service skills and training, and the facilities weren’t useful. I didn’t want to leave a bad review because it could hurt the business. But I’ve seen staff appear to post positive reviews using fake accounts instead of fixing the problems.

I tried to book for 40++ days, but it wouldn’t work through booking.com. I called the hotel directly, and the price ended up higher instead of lower. I don’t understand why a business wouldn’t want the booking.

The staff were really friendly, and it’s a very nice hotel.
