Sunny Residence

It's handy when you need an early morning airport ride, with the airport only 15-20 minutes away. They have a shuttle running every hour for 150baht per room, about $5. The 24h restaurant and bar serve good food at normal street prices. It's not a very walk-friendly area, though I walked to a local market to look around. The beds are very firm, and the room is about a 3.5 for luxury, but it was clean and did the job for a quick airport stay.

Our room had enough space, but the layout was quite odd: to get to the balcony, you had to go through the toilet room. That's a very strange setup for a room meant for three people. There were no towels when we checked in, so I had to ask for some. The room phone had no instructions for calling reception, which meant going downstairs to speak to them. The hotel was clean and quiet, with a nice, roomy lobby, restaurant, and bar. The restaurant prices seemed high given the location. It's not far from Suvarnabhumi airport, and the hotel provides a free transfer there.

The staff were very pleasant and helpful, but this felt more like a motel than a hotel and I didn't like it. We were there for just one night before flying home, and it wasn't a good choice. Access was awkward, and the place felt lost in an unwelcoming area. The room was plain and dirty, with hardly any soap or towels. There were a lot of restrictions, some understandable, but still. It was so noisy from what I guess were water pumps. You couldn't open the outside door for air because of mosquitoes.

The room was spacious, and since the hotel seems new, everything felt clean and fresh. I liked that there were no carpets or bulky sofas to gather dust. Breakfast was okay. The neighborhood is quiet, with a shopping mall nearby. A taxi from the airport cost us 130THB, while the hotel offers an 80THB ride back there.
