The Chatbox Silom Hostel

The room was supposed to be the best private room, but it had a filthy brown bath mat, a leaking toilet, and a big used bar of soap in the shower. There was no water to drink anywhere. I asked in both English and Thai about bottled water or filtered tap water, was told no, and laughed at. I’d been told I could check in at 1pm, but nobody showed up until after 2:15, despite two calls. There’s no elevator, and my room was on the fifth floor. The Wi-Fi they gave me didn’t work there, and with no staff around I couldn’t get the right code for the other network. The curtains were ugly and tacked over the windows, so I couldn’t see the beautiful view. The vibe was weird, and there was lots of smoke outside the door.

I booked through agoda four hours before check-in, but when we arrived at night there was nobody at reception and no answer to the phone. At 2 am, where are people supposed to go to sleep? I had to sleep on the office floor because of the service this hotel provided. Disgusting service, and it should be removed from Booking and Agoda.

We were sent to Dreamcatcher after arriving late at night and finding that the hostel was full, even though Agoda had shown four bunk beds available when I booked. I asked what could be done and whether I’d get a full refund. The staff member said a refund wasn’t necessary because he could offer us a bed at another hostel. Since it was so late, I accepted. The bed at Dreamcatcher was filthy. The sheets, pillowcase, blanket, and bath towel hadn’t been changed, and there were culluses scattered over the bed. The staff there wouldn’t change them, so I had to sleep in that condition. The bathroom drain was clogged, and the towel rail was covered in used towels, making me wonder if the bathroom was ever cleaned. I’m banning both this hostel and Dreamcatcher from my life. Hostel staff, if you’re full, please update the online booking platforms. My biggest advice is to get a full refund if CHATBOX HOSTEL tries to send you to the other hostel.

I’d booked somewhere else, but when I arrived they sent me to The Chatbox. It wasn’t worth the original price and felt like a prison cell, with nonstop noise from the nearby boulevard.
