The Dynasty Hotel

I was here for a three night conference stay. The hotel was clean enough, and breakfast was more than okay, especially for me as an Indonesian citizen. There’s a traditional market all around, where you can bargain with pen and paper or a handheld calculator.

The room was huge and clean, and the location was strategic enough. But in what may be Thailand’s hottest week of the year, the old air conditioner just couldn’t cool the room properly anymore. It seems like it’s been there since the early century. A working AC matters a lot in this heat, so I hope they improve it.

It’s a three star hotel where a lot of Indonesian tourists stay. The building is a bit old, though my room was clean and spacious. It’s some distance from the city center, but there’s a pier nearby. The boat is very cheap and gets you to the center quickly enough.

Being right beside the Chao Praya river, the hotel connects to a boat stop. Outside peak hours you can take a boat to places like Pratunam, though at busy times locals fill them on their way to work. Grab cars have no trouble finding this well known hotel. The building feels old and a little gloomy, even though my room was clean and tidy. Front desk staff were nice, but some didn’t speak English very well. It’s convenient if you get hungry late, with a 7-11 and McD about a 500 meter walk away. Muslim guests may especially appreciate the halal breakfast.
