The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon

The BTS Skytrain stop is right beside the hotel, so much of the city is easy to reach. The pool was bigger than it looked in the photos, and the pool bar was a nice extra. Our room was spacious and clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We ate at the hotel once and found the meal fine. Reception could be better organized, though. It came across a little chaotic, and getting the final bill corrected took several tries. We spent five nights at The Standard and were very satisfied overall. I can confidently recommend it.

The Sky Beach rooftop bar was spectacular, and it made a beautiful finish to our last evening. Dinner at Ojo felt like a real bargain, with a view I won’t forget soon. The pool was a lifesaver on the hottest days, and having the Skytrain so close made air conditioned trips around the city easy. This was a wonderfully strange luxury stay. The slightly wonky feel softened the big change in culture and atmosphere, and we’ll miss the unusual, stylish look and even the quietly unsettling lift murmurs as our holiday continues. The food was excellent, especially breakfast, which may be the best and most varied I’ve had, along with a delightful host. The fancy Toto Washlet style toilet was a bonus too. I’d recommend the place without hesitation.

A wallet mishap could have spoiled our evening, but the staff turned it around. On February 26 at about 8 PM, we left our wallet by accident in the gym and only noticed roughly an hour later. We hurried to the desk feeling stressed, and the gentleman on duty, whose name we didn’t get, stayed calm and quickly helped us find it. We got it back without any trouble and felt hugely relieved. We were in Room 1210 from February 26 to February 28 and had a really great stay. That moment showed us how good the staff are. We’d recommend the hotel and come back. Thanks for taking such good care of us.

The room was clean, stylish, and practical, with a comfortable bed, and the gym was big while the pool was nice. Room service was fantastic and very reasonably priced. The staff were kind and helpful, too. They spotted a birthday in our passports even though we hadn’t mentioned it, then brought a cake to our room. Amazing hotel, don’t hesitate to stay.
