Tuscany Land Resort Donmuang

The views were stunning and ended up being the best part of our stay. The hotel was spotless, which made for a relaxed, pleasant atmosphere. It's near dmk airport, so getting around was pretty easy.

We had a great night's sleep, even with the very hard bed. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable, and the air conditioning handled the 40-degree heat outside really well. The bathroom's bare concrete design was a nice touch. The place is striking, with old shipping containers stacked among palm trees around a fountain, and it's only a 15-minute walk from the airport. It was a lovely stay at a great price. If we're in Bangkok again, we'll definitely stay here.

We had a really nice stay at Tuscany Land Resort, and I wanted to share our experience after seeing so many negative reviews. The staff and management were especially kind to the three chunky dogs and a couple of chunky cats on the property. One dog is an amputee, with his scars still very visible, and I'm glad he's healing and being cared for. On our last night I spent a few hours in the lobby around midnight and got a free lap cat. If barking dogs aren't for you, choose somewhere else, but we were fine with the pets and will come back on our next vacation. The hotel is less than 10 minutes from DMK Airport by Grab. You can also walk there using the pedestrian overpass if your luggage isn't too heavy and you arrive in the morning or around noon. Reception is open 24 hours, so a midnight arrival is fine. The rooms are made from stacked container vans, which we found much more creative than a usual hotel. We had bath and hand towels, a hair blower, electric kettle, three bottled waters, a personal fridge, TV, air conditioning, hot and cold shower, a toilet beside it, and basic toiletries. One towel had a tear along the side. I returned it and told reception in the morning so we wouldn't be held responsible at checkout. You can borrow plates and utensils if you're eating in your room, and a kind staff member brought us extra bottled water upstairs. Breakfast was included, which we hadn't expected at a hotel costing $20+ a night. It was simple: bread, cookies, butter, jam, eggs, sausage, congee with ground pork, and coffee, ovaltine, or orange juice. The menu seemed to be the same each morning, though I'm not sure that's always the case. It's complimentary, and you can always skip it. Affordable restaurants, convenience stores, and supermarkets are within walking distance before Happy Avenue, so meals weren't a problem. The hotel is far from central Bangkok, about an hour's travel depending on how you get there. We did notice an unusual bathroom smell, possibly from the concrete wall, but it went away with the exhaust fan on. The staff weren't very skilled at communicating in English, but they used a phone translator so we could understand each other. We weren't concerned about whether staff smiled, as long as they handled reasonable requests. Having them smile at us nonstop would actually have been creepy. There may be issues with towels or pillows, but you can ask reception. Tuscany is a nice place, even if the name doesn't match what the hotel looks like. Does anyone ever ask whether your name suits your appearance?

Fine for one night if you need to be near the airport. The place seemed reasonably clean, and the sheets were otherwise clean, but there was a tear in them that they'd covered with a tissue. The bathroom had a strong sewage smell, and the tea kettle still had old water in it. I don't use hotel kettles anyway because they seem almost always dirty. The rooms are converted shipping containers reached by their own stairs, with no elevator, and staff won't help with luggage. They require a 500 baht cash deposit for the key and return it at checkout. That seems pretty outrageous, since no other hotel I've stayed at in Thailand has asked for one. Don Mueang Place Hotel is just down the street and 100 times nicer. Stay there instead.
