Varinda Hostel

You get what you'd expect for a very cheap room. The shower worked fine, the room was reasonably clean, and there was a free bottle of water each day. In Room 202 the bed was firm, and both the air conditioner and the fridge made noise. The window faces a street with motorbikes constantly going by, which was annoying and loud. I wouldn't stay again. For someone on a tight budget who wants a private room instead of a hostel, it might do, but I'm not sure.

I felt welcome when I arrived, and the rooms were clean with comfortable beds. I'd stayed in a few places around Bangkok, and this one gave me better value than most. I left the honey house because the staff there weren't nice. If you're on a budget, this is a decent place to rest while you're in Bangkok.

I come here pretty often for short trips. It's a great budget hotel.

I wouldn't say the low price makes this place worth it. I got moved between rooms after they messed up my booking, and my stay was the worst I've had so far, even though I had a room to myself. The back building room was extremely moldy and smelled bad. The front building was cleaner and didn't smell moldy, but its door was basically a window that didn't close all the way, facing reception and the road. It was very loud with motorbikes going past 24/7. The property is also open to people walking in from the street through the parking lot between the buildings. In the room next to mine in the back building, local bar girls stayed and came back loudly around 3-5am every day. One knocked on my door to invite me to their bar, then borrowed money to help pay for the hotel and never returned it. They told me they often stayed there while working in the city. Be aware. I only came because the nearby hostel I usually use was full. Even with my own room, this was the worst place I've stayed so far.
