This hotel really ruined the mood. The online photos are very attractive, but I felt they could mislead guests, especially Indians. The building seemed old, unsafe, and poorly maintained, and the hallways, reception, and rooms were dark. The air conditioners were very old, barely worked, and gave poor ventilation, with almost no proper air circulation. The bathrooms and fittings were extremely outdated. The tiles were very slippery, creating a high risk of slipping and falling. The receptionist didn’t offer much cooperation or help. The only advantage is the location on Khao San Road, but the constant noise all night made it hard to sleep peacefully. A taxi to Bangkok’s main city areas costs at least 200 (currency), and there’s no metro station nearby. Apart from being close to nightlife, I found the rooms old and unsafe, the corridors dark, and the overall environment unpleasant. I’d look for another option.

The location puts you right in the middle of everything, and the room was fine for sleeping, with a big bed. The shower setup is awkward: it’s short, and the shower head sits right at the front, so you end up facing the wall. The water gets reasonably hot, which is fine in the outdoor heat. The lobby and hallways aren’t cooled. It’s a good place overall, with a few little issues, and I’d recommend it.

For the $25 I paid for one night, the location was excellent, with bars, restaurants, and shops all around. The evening noise does carry, so bring earplugs if you want to sleep. Check-in was friendly and efficient. My standard twin room was small, with a hard mattress but good-quality bedding. The lighting was poor throughout the hotel. There was a TV and fridge, and I didn’t use the pool.

Khaosan is great for partying, and there’s a massage place on the next street. Buses can take you all over BKK.
