Royce Boutique Betong

We only stayed one night and made do, but the room was small and basic. The towels were stained, the blanket was torn, and the shower pressure was painfully slow. There was only basic soap, which I didn’t use, and no toothbrush or toothpaste. With three young kids, we had to carry our luggage upstairs because there was no staff after 10pm. At least parking right in front of the hotel was easy. I booked without hesitation because of the 4.5-star rating, so I’m sharing this realistic review in case others are swayed by their TT videos. Location is the hotel’s only real selling point. The room had a key card for the doors and lights, but the room itself used a regular lock, and the windows wouldn’t latch, so security felt close to nonexistent. I’d asked for two rooms side by side or connecting rooms, but was first given rooms 1 and 3. Staff only understood after I used Google Translate, then let us change rooms.

The room was cramped for two, and some rooms have ants. The toilet may clog, and getting to the upper floors by stairs isn’t convenient for elderly guests. Customer service was friendly, but there’s nobody around after 10pm, although an emergency contact number is provided. Parking by the roadside is limited. Tell staff your car’s number plate if you park there, or the police may clamp it. I had to pay 500 baht to get mine released.

The room was bright, very clean and had a soothing scent. It was soundproof, so I slept really well. The hallways were dust-free, and access cards are needed for all the doors, which felt secure. Staff at the front desk were friendly and very helpful. The interior design felt elegant and welcoming as soon as I walked in. It’s about a 10-minute walk to the town centre. I miss this hotel and will stay here again when I come to Betong. Cheers from Malaysia.
