Alvarez Hotel

The room was spacious. The amenities could be fresher.

We stopped in around 8:30 pm on a Saturday. The bar is on the 7th floor, with a nice look, a pleasant atmosphere, and a good view across Buriram. A Thai guy played guitar and sang, at a comfortable volume. The menu looked appealing and the prices seemed reasonable, though we didn’t eat. There were only two other customers in the big room. We wanted cocktails, but were told, “today no cocktails.” The staff seemed bored, which was understandable with so few people there. We got a beer and left after ten minutes. If you want somewhere really quiet, you could try it, and hopefully cocktails will be available again.

The pool was green and unusable when I went to check it the next morning. I also found the rooftop bar derelict and apparently under maintenance when I arrived late, though I think it was simply closed. Breakfast was just okay if you like white bread, Thai dishes, and ham and sausages that looked dodgy. There was no bacon, and the omelette was basically scrambled egg. My room safe didn’t work at first, but they fixed it promptly. I wouldn’t stay here again.

It’s an older hotel, though it was clean. I’m not sure about the dinner room service. Breakfast got a bit boring after four days in a row, but the chicken nuggets and omelette were really good, and the milk was always fresh in the morning.
