Tonkhoon Hotel

The reception staff are friendly and speak some English. Wi-Fi details come on tiny slips, and each password only works on one device, so I needed two for my phone and laptop. After dinner I had to enter the password again. Laundry was expensive: 70 Baht for trousers and 30 Baht for a T-shirt. The prices on the laundry form had been changed by hand. My slightly more expensive “Deluxe” room 223 was quiet at the back, with no street or parking lot noise, and had plenty of empty space. But there were only two plugs, side by side on a small desk far from the bed. No bedside lights or plugs, no bathroom outlet, no cupboard, just shelves and a hanger, no kettle, and no usable balcony. The room was boltable, but there was no Do not disturb sign. I found a few dead mosquitoes on the linoleum and bedspread when I checked in. The split air conditioner worked well, though it was rather loud. Someone in the neighboring room talked loudly, but that room seemed to be occupied for just one night during my stay.

The room was okay and the bed was good, but there were no frills. At 750 baht a night, the breakfast was very poor. What breakfast?

Nice hotel, fair price, and a good breakfast.

The property is old and needs more care, especially the bedrooms.
