The Essence HOTEL Chanthaburi

The hotel is new, modern, and had opened eight months earlier. The room was clean, with a good TV and mattress, and the bathroom was nice and modern. Breakfast was okay, and the coffee machine had various choices. Noise from other rooms carried through, including bathroom doors closing and people walking and talking. Outside was relatively quiet at night. I’ve noticed similar noise issues at several other modern hotels in Thailand, which is disappointing. On the second night, during heavy rain, water somehow came through the closed window into our room, and we told reception. The first night, we returned late in heavy rain and found the night guard asleep in the lobby instead of helping with umbrellas. Reception staff didn’t look up or greet us.

The bed and pillows were very good, and the hotel seems quite new. There’s a TV, refrigerator, hot water, hair dryer, and plenty of outlets in the room. Some interior details could be better finished, with a few sharp edges, though that was okay. The bathroom water was yellow, which wasn’t acceptable, and I felt dust on my feet when I entered the room. Those things need improvement. For the quality, experience, and location, I think the price should be lower.

Breakfast had a good variety and tasted nice. The staff were friendly and very eager to help, and the new hotel’s facilities were fine. The room was clean and the bed very good. But the shared spaces, including the hallway and elevator, need more attention to cleanliness. Some areas felt sticky and had little air circulation. The decor could have more character and warmth, perhaps with small touches like real plants in the hallway instead of plastic ones. It’s okay for a night, but not a place I’d choose for a relaxing stay.

Really nice hotel, super clean. I’ll come back again.
