The fried chicken rice was decent, and the shower was good. The price was $32 a night, but the air conditioning barely worked. One towel was clean; the other looked like it had dirt and wrap on it. They also dug through my bags while they were in storage. They did arrange a tuktuk truck to take me from the hotel to the bus station for 100 baht.

We ate both breakfast and dinner, and the dishes were great. The menu has Thai, Indian, and Sri Lankan options. Chandimal also owns a jewelry shop on the ground floor, which could be useful if you're interested in taking a nice souvenir home. Chanmel Riverside sits by the river, just a few meters from the jewelry Market, and makes for a quiet, cosy stay in Chanthaburi. The owners and team are friendly, approachable, and helpful. They even sent the charger I'd left in my room to the next hotel I stayed at in Thailand.

The restroom and shower floor were a microbial plant disaster, and the rooms felt very outdated. This is far below what I'd consider an acceptable tourist place in Thailand.

We felt welcome. The room was small but fine, and everything was clean. It's a nice place in town, with a charming terrace along the river and pleasant staff.

Chanmel Riverside is the hotel's name, right at the start of the gem stone market. The style feels really relaxing, and the rates are very affordable. I liked it here.
