A very decent hotel for a few days’ stop. The bed was comfy and the staff were very helpful.

We only stopped for a coffee on the way back to Chiang Mai. It looks like a good place to stay overnight, and it was clean and well maintained, apart from their espresso machine. My latte was bitter and not smooth, but the fresh coconut was great. The location is great too.

I came to Mon Chom Doi by accident after the place I was staying filled up and I couldn’t add more days. I was trying to keep costs down, and Mon Chom Doi fit what I was looking for. After a day, I could already tell it was fantastic value, so I extended my stay. I haven’t found value like this in a long time. The fair price gave me no reason to make excuses: the cleanliness and friendly service would be great even at normal prices. I stayed during COVID-19 and rainy season, and the staff and cleaning were 100% Covid compliant. If you want a comfortable stay in Chiang Dao, consider Mon Chom Doi. They speak little English, but their friendliness gets past any language barrier. The resort sits in a central location, in the shadow of the imposing mountain Doi Luang. It’s run by a family with an extraordinary focus on service. That level of care is usually only there when the owners are involved, and they make sure you’re comfortable. If it’s raining, they’ll even bring an umbrella to your car. Breakfast is the standard Thai interpretation of a western breakfast, for those in the know. There’s an on-site restaurant and cafe with covered outdoor seating, and the common area seems like it would be great for kids. The accommodation is in separate bungalows with terraces, from one-room options to much larger ones. Everything inside and out was immaculately clean. The rooms had lots of electrical outlets, a fan, air conditioning, a flat-screen TV, windows with working screens and two blinds, one for privacy and one to block light. There was also a kettle, hair dryer, vanity area, a closet with built-in drawers and hangers, electric emergency lights, hot water with good pressure, a toilet that flushed strongly, and good lighting. The mattress supported my bad back without being rock hard, and there was a comprehensive security system.

The room was clean, though a bit dated.
