Thong Family Homestay Chiengdao

Tong made us breakfast and dinner whenever we asked, for 150 baht per meal, which was well worth it. One evening we all learned to make Thai dessert, cooked rice balls in warm coconut milk, and it was delicious and such a fun time together in the kitchen. I rented a scooter in Chiang Mai and drove to Chiang Dao for two nights. Tong had secure parking and let me check in several hours early. The location was great, just a five-minute scooter ride from the hot springs up the road. She speaks great English, let me choose my bed, and shared brilliant local tips, including a lovely sunset view where we could have dinner. Thank you, Tong!!!!

If you enjoy rural life and a quiet setting, this is a great homestay. It's a little outside town, but close enough to cycle or reach in a couple of minutes by scooter. The hot springs and a small village are nearby too. I stayed several days at Thong's place and really appreciated her hospitality. The room was simple, clean, and comfortable, and Thong looked after her guests, cooked great food, and made me feel like part of the family.

I stayed five nights and met lots of lovely people. The guesthouse had such a nice vibe, and I'll definitely return when I'm back in Thailand. After Chiang Mai I was exhausted and needed a break, and this place was just right. Thong is like a mama and makes sure you have what you need. The Thai food was really good, served the local way, including things like bamboo sticky rice. She drove us to a hot spring, a sticky waterfall, and a huge local market. For outings on your own, she also gives really good advice.

Right next to majestic Doi Luang Chiang Dao, Thong Family Homestay is a great choice if you want an authentic experience in Chiang Dao. It's more than somewhere to sleep, you can get a feel for local life here.
