We ended up switching hotels and losing the full amount we paid. The second night was meant to be in room 408, but after what happened in room 405 on the first night, we didn't want to stay. We had booked two nights, January 2-4, through Agoda, knowing we'd be in different rooms. From the online photos of the room types we selected, though, we reasonably expected the rooms to be similar. Room 405 was a shock. There was no window in the room itself, and it opened onto a private bathroom whose only window looked straight at a concrete wall. It was dark, couldn't be aired out, and had faded decor and worn, old furniture. The whole place felt gloomy and nothing like the pictures online. We had also requested a double bed but were given two singles. The offered fix was for a staff member to push them together and say that made it a double. We asked for a refund for at least one night because of the obvious difference between the room provided and what had been advertised. The hotel refused. The price was especially high for that time of year, and the standard didn't match what we expected for that rate. The positive reviews don't match what we experienced. The stay left us feeling there was a clear lack of transparency and respect for guests. We sent our concerns to the manager at the address provided, but got no reply or follow-up.
