This is an old, dated hotel, and the bed is very hard. The location is boring and poor, right beside a large rubbish tip. For what it costs, I don’t think it’s worth staying here. Basic things are missing, like a hairdryer, which you have to ask for. It’s a dirty old place and not suitable for foreigners. I wouldn’t recommend it.

I got in around 4 a.m., and the man at the desk told me to be checked out by noon. Since it was so late, I stayed, though I would have left otherwise. I booked through Agoda, which wasn’t helpful. The room felt outdated, with a hard, squeaky bed, and I wasn’t given the internet password. The phone didn’t work, so I couldn’t call the desk. Maybe I got the worst room, but I wouldn’t recommend this unless you have no other options.

This is a simple hotel, and its main strength is where it is rather than its facilities. The rooms are clean and tidy, and there’s a pool and free breakfast. If you’re passing through or only spending a day or two in town, the location works really well: it’s near the airport, a major shopping centre, and plenty of local food and Western-style restaurants. You can walk or take a short taxi ride to Chiang Mai’s tourist centre.
