Our second room was in much the same awful state as the first. The receptionist handed us a new key without saying anything, which didn’t reassure us. The rooms were dirty, poorly maintained, and not worth supporting. They also don’t offer refunds, which makes me think they may know about the problems. The first room had cigarettes in the sink, ants, moths, and cobwebs along the walls. The pillowcase had dark marks, the pillow underneath was yellow-stained, and the bed was even dirtier. Ice filling the minifreezer inside the fridge kept it from closing, and water had spread around it. Despite its strangely high Agoda rating, I regret booking this place.

We thought the first room might just be bad luck, so we asked for another. They handed over a new key without saying a word or even looking at us. The second room was just as disgusting, though its fridge did close. We left quickly for another hotel, and there were no refunds. If you still book after reading this, good luck. The fridge in the first room wouldn’t close, leaving water everywhere. There were cigarette butts in the sink, torn wallpaper, dead roaches on the balcony ledges, dirty glasses, stained bedding, and a dusty floor that clearly hadn’t been vacuumed in a long time. Cobwebs were in the corners, the air conditioner was full of dust and dirt, and all the furniture was extremely old. The online photos don’t match the hotel’s current state.

Jame turned hospitality into a performance I won’t forget. After more than a dozen trips to Thailand, I hadn’t expected to be told to “get out” instead of having a polite conversation. It was an avant-garde way to skip the usual check-in formalities, I suppose. The hotel offers a lesson in managing expectations from the start. Why spend the holiday exploring Chiang Mai when your spirit can be crushed before the trip even begins? If you want your plans derailed right away, Jame is apparently a promise of an unforgettable stay in hospitality hell. Thanks for the memories. Jame has earned a place among my Thai travel experiences.

Cockroaches come out after dark, and the hotel is unsanitary. The worst hotel ever. Don’t stay here if you care about your health. There are plenty of better places for the price.
