Being able to walk to most places in central Chiang Mai was a real plus. We also got great help planning our days: Láďa, one of the owners and originally from the Czech Republic, shared tips for restaurants, outings, and places around town. The room guidebook had a map and more suggestions too. We went to Doi Suthep and joined a lovely full-day trip that included Angel Cafe, a temple, and the Sticky Waterfall. The place was clean and comfortable, and the staff were wonderful. Prim was especially kind and helpful, always with a smile. We really liked how welcoming the owners were, and the stay felt like the place’s motto about feeling at home and meeting new friends. Breakfast was another highlight. The rice with chicken or pork and the fruit-and-yogurt pancakes were delicious, and we loved the Thai tea. We had a great time at Amaka Bed and Cafe (Amaka 1). In the historic center, we’d also suggest a stop at Fern Forest Cafe. We thought it was one of Chiang Mai’s best cafés and well worth a visit for something tasty. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

The rooms were spotless, comfortable, and nicely decorated, and we felt at ease as soon as we walked in. Breakfast was fresh and delicious, and quickly became something we looked forward to each morning. The staff made the stay especially welcoming. They were warm, genuine, always smiling, and ready with useful recommendations. It’s clear they care about making guests feel looked after. The location was peaceful and felt safe, with everything we wanted to see nearby. After a day of markets, temples, and food, returning to Amaka felt like coming back to our own little city retreat. We’ve been to Chiang Mai a few times, and Amaka Bed & Breakfast is now one of our favorite places to stay. We can’t wait to return. Highly, highly recommend!

We really enjoyed the trips we took from here. The staff suggested the night markets, where I had the best Mango Sticky Rice, and we went on the 9 palace walk, which is meant to bring good luck in Thai culture. They also arranged a tour to Chiang Rai for us. One staff member recommended Elefy cafe, which we loved after visiting Buatong Sticky Waterfall. The owners, one Czech and one Thai, take great care of their guests. Everyone on staff was extremely kind, helpful, and spoke great English. They arrange excursions, can connect guests with car or scooter rentals, and offer airport pick-up at competitive prices. There’s also a book at check-in with recommended sights and other places to visit. The rooms were neat and tidy, and the bed was very comfortable. I liked being able to draw the curtain around it for privacy. Breakfast was included, with vegan and gluten-free choices. On days when we had to leave before breakfast, we could take one of several sandwiches. The options included Thai omelet with rice, yoghurt with musli, fried rice, pancakes, waffles, and sandwiches such as PB&J and BLT, plus more.

We had to check out very early, and they kindly set aside breakfast for us the day before. The hosts were attentive and handled all our requests warmly. Our private room was fairly spacious and had everything we needed. Breakfast was tasty, though it was continental.

I had such a comfortable stay at Amaka Cafe. The bed was cozy and gave me a proper sense of having my own space. Everything was kept clean and well maintained. It’s just north of the old town, on a quiet street, and I’d recommend it to anyone after a calm, relaxing stay.
