Ban Sabai Village Resort & Spa

It seems like a lovely place, with a high standard of care, and it’s affordable compared with the US. The drawback is the distance, about a 40-minute drive from Chiang Mai, which would make visiting difficult.

My parents are happy at Ban Sabai. They feel safe, respected, and cared for, which has given our family real peace of mind. We moved them to Chiang Mai in April 2025 after years of navigating senior care in Canada. The move was difficult: my mother has dementia and my father has diabetes, so finding the right place mattered a lot. The care facility they were in before did its best, but small mishaps kept happening and gradually undermined our confidence. At Ban Sabai, the attention, organization, and standard of care have been noticeably better. The staff are diligent and kind, and they make an effort to meet each of my parents’ needs. Their approach also considers emotional and physical well-being, and the food is healthy and thoughtfully prepared. We were pleasantly surprised by medical care in Thailand. It has been efficient, accessible, and thorough, and my parents have been able to get regular check-ups, treatment, and follow-ups without trouble. Their care is managed carefully. Ban Sabai is run by a Swiss-Thai couple. Their professionalism, compassion, and hands-on approach show in how well organized the facility is. We’re very grateful they helped turn what could have been a stressful move into a reassuring new chapter for my parents.

This is my go-to place in Chiang Mai. It’s a bit outside town, so it feels quiet and relaxing. Great rooms, food, and staff.

I spent three nights here on a yoga and spa retreat, looking for somewhere quiet to slow down, and the setting suited that well. The resort is in a peaceful estate, almost 6 km from town, with a lovely atmosphere. My private yoga sessions were held in a pavilion by a garden pond and tailored to my experience level. I also booked spa treatments and took a cooking class. I walked around the village estate and visited Elephant parade House, where there’s a gallery of painted elephant statues and a painting workshop. If you want to head into town, there’s a shuttle in the late afternoon and evening to the night bazaar areas, and Grab taxis to and from the city were easy to get for under 100 baht. The staff were lovely and accommodating, from the front desk to the spa therapists I saw each day. Bee and ‘L were especially hospitable, and it was nice to see them every day. I’d love to come back.
