Burirattana Hotel - Adults Only

On Sunday nights, taxis can't reach the hotel because of the Sunday night market. If you're arriving or leaving then, you'll have to haul your luggage through the crowds for about 1-2 blocks. It's a hassle, but being so close to all the activity was great. Once we came through the front door, the busy surroundings gave way to a peaceful, elegant place. It felt high quality and clean without the showy luxury touches. Our room had a mini-fridge, free snacks, water, coffee, tea, and cold drinks. I don't agree with an earlier review saying there was no lobby. Another person mentioned noise, but our room was at the back and we didn't hear any. We didn't use the spa.

The location worked really well, with temples, shops, and restaurants all an easy walk away in Chiang Mai old Town. We also ate several times at the attached restaurant and enjoyed everything we ordered. The staff were helpful and friendly, and we appreciated the welcome drinks, complimentary dessert, and in-room snacks. It's a beautiful little boutique hotel.

The only letdown was the spa massage. It was done on a flat mattress on the floor without a face hole, which is common for massages, so my face was squished and the experience was uncomfortable. Otherwise, this is a nice boutique hotel in the middle of old town, with a subtle touch of luxury. Our triple room was huge, and the extra bed was proper. I loved the duvet and pillows, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

It's a small hotel with tasteful furnishings and warm, friendly service. The facilities are limited to a small gym, pool, spa, and breakfast/brunch restaurant, which was fine by me since I don't use many facilities anyway. There are plenty of upsides for people traveling without family: it's adults-only, so no kids running around, and the location is very central. We could see the Sunday walking market right from our balcony.
