Chotana Bed

The price and location were good, but the staff were the worst and very rude. My stay turned into a nightmare. On the first night I put up the do not disturb sign, then messaged the admin on FB to ask for water and towels. They told me to call staff using the room phone when I returned. Around 9pm I called and had a normal conversation with a guy. When he asked, “right now?”, I said yes. He arrived looking pissed, handed over the water and towels, then actually shook his head at me. That was so rude, and I won’t stay here again. I wouldn’t have minded if he’d simply said no, or told me to make the request during working hours. It was his attitude that was the problem.

The room was comfortable, with a good mattress and pillows, and the AC worked well. The bedroom and bathroom were clean, and the price was reasonable. There was a slight sewage smell in the bathroom, but we kept its door shut when not in use and used air freshener, so it didn’t bother us. In the morning you can hear birds and other nature sounds. At night, footsteps from people passing the room were audible, but nobody was noisy during our stay and we slept soundly. Check-in is self-service at 3 PM. You get a code through the same booking method to unlock the door and collect the key. To check out, return it to the locker and leave. Parking is available around the building, on the street, or across the street in the Villa Chotana area. The building seems like a renovated commercial building, not an old one. There’s no elevator, and the stairs are a little narrow, so plan to carry your luggage, though they’re manageable.

I could hear mice running in the ceiling, and the housekeeper had left the previous guest’s towel in my room. 😖 Outside noise was loud, including very loud airplanes, because the room wasn’t soundproof. There’s no elevator, and my room was on the 4th floor, so I had to haul my luggage up very steep, dangerous stairs. The staff at the hotel across the street were quite nice, and you can leave your belongings there.

The things I expected were there: no elevator, very steep stairs that need care, and security that seemed lacking. Locking your room properly makes it manageable. The hotel seems to be part of the same chain as the one across the street, where staff are on site if something happens or you need help. Housekeeping cleans early in the morning. What surprised me was how new and clean everything looked, including the lobby. The minimalist room had lots of wood, warm tones, and a Muji-style look that suits young adults. Self check-in was simpler than I expected. It wasn’t noisy, so I slept comfortably, and the light wasn’t too bright, so I woke up normally. Everything else was what I expected, haha.
