De Lanna Hotel

The pool was clean and a nice place to hang out, and the gym was very good too. We loved the location, with markets, massages, temples and pretty much everything we needed right on the doorstep. Friday night’s live singer in the outdoor, lantern-lit restaurant was especially memorable. Staff were kind and friendly, and the rooms were comfortable. Drinking water was topped up regularly, there were plenty of amenities, and the air conditioning felt great after time in the hot sun. The breakfast had so much variety that my partner and I ended up paying for it every day, since we hadn’t included it in our booking. There’s plenty more I could say. I’d highly recommend staying here and would come back!

The neighborhood in Chiang Mai was lively and charming, which made the state of this hotel even more disappointing. Our stay at De Lanna Hotel Chiang Mai from 13th-16th May was one of our worst hotel experiences in Thailand. The room smelled of sewage, was dirty and poorly maintained, and had cockroaches. Check-in dragged on and felt disorganized, and the staff seemed unfriendly and uninterested in helping. There were creepy dolls in the room, so we gave them back to housekeeping on the first day. At checkout, staff oddly asked whether we had taken them, which felt absurd and unprofessional. The pool also looked poorly maintained, and we avoided it. For the price, there are much better options in Chiang Mai. The basics of cleanliness, professionalism, and hospitality were missing.

Everything you need is close by, and there’s plenty to do on foot. The room was spacious and nice, though the pillows felt like concrete and there were no sockets by the beds. I’d recommend the café/restaurant two doors up, the food was 10/10, and renting a scooter is well worth it. I left my key in the room a few times and had to ask for help getting back in. The staff were happy to help without asking questions.

I loved staying here and definitely plan to come back. Even though the hotel is on a busy street, the courtyard and rooms somehow stay shielded from the noise. The courtyard was nicely kept, the pool lovely, and my room was clean and really nice. The hotel itself is beautiful, and the staff were great. The free breakfast buffet was amazing, with loads of options and everything tasted delicious. The location is great too.
