Hmong Hill Tribe Lodge Chiang Mai

The staff are amazing, and there's plenty to enjoy in the surroundings. You can relax by the pool at the end of the day, follow a short trekking trail that starts behind the Lodge with a map from the staff, or walk along the main road in the morning. Along the way there are orange farms, a sheep farm and petting zoo, and local farmers selling tasty fruit and vegetables. The views are lovely, and it's about an hour's drive from Chiang Mai. I spent time on my private balcony reading, taking in the scenery, or listening to the wildlife. This is a quiet mountain and rainforest getaway if you want to recharge. One downside is that, although the beds and bedding are up to western standards, the rainforest setting and traditional-style buildings can leave the beds feeling cold and damp.

The rooms are simple and rustic, but spotless and have everything you need. With the quiet, fresh air, and mild climate, I had my best night's sleep since arriving in Thailand. The place has a lovely energy, and the sounds of all the lush nature around me made me feel calm and happy straight away.

I loved the named trees and the big swings around the property. We only stayed two nights, and took a lovely rural walk up to the local village. On our way out, we spotted a family of cows gathered around their watering hole near our room. Each large hut has four rooms and a shared area. It felt traditional and clean, with everything we needed. The staff were friendly and helpful. They lent us an adapter and suggested a walk, and the peaceful nature sounds were lovely to fall asleep to. Having your own car would make getting there and exploring easier.

A great place to clear your head and reset. I came for the nature and a peaceful, relaxing stay, not for bling bling. Everything is made from natural materials. It was one of my best experiences in Thaïland.
