Hotel De Wualai

The location worked really well for us: it’s generally quiet, with a walking street market about 40 yards away on Saturday nights and the old town a 15-minute walk away. They’re doing work on the hotel next door, though, and that was quite noisy. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, and cleaned the room daily unless you asked them not to. Rooms are spacious and clean, with a good-sized fridge, kettle, coffee, and a microwave that was great for reheating takeaways. Good luck and enjoy.

The pool is lovely, and the staff are so nice, always happy to suggest places to go. It’s a great hotel just a bit outside the square. The one downside for us was the bathroom water, since both the pressure and temperature were a bit sketchy. I’d definitely recommend it for a stay in Chiang Mai.

At 32 quid a night on Booking.com, this is hard to beat in its price range. It’s about a five-minute walk into town, with coffee shops, restaurants, and two 7/11's along the way. After staying in big, posh places in BK, this little hotel was a really good experience, so clean and well kept. Don’t hesitate, this is the one.

We felt very safe in this area, and it was an easy eight-minute walk to busier spots and the markets. The staff were lovely and kind, and seemed like friends, which made the atmosphere even nicer. Our room was the biggest we’ve had in thailand and great value at about £25 per night, with a huge comfy bed and a large bathroom, big shower, and spa bath. There’s a gym and pool, though we didn’t get around to using them, plus some nice gardens out back. Thank you so much.
