Nim at reception made us feel welcome and gave us lots of help finding good places to visit nearby. When I got sick during the trip, she checked in several times to see if I was feeling better. The rooms were cleaned daily too. I'd highly recommend staying here.

The cozy, intimate atmosphere made it easy to feel at home, and I met some really incredible people here. After four nights, I understand all the great reviews. The staff at Family home remember guests' names and clearly love their jobs. They were amazing at arranging Chiang Mai tours for us at good rates.

The location is great, and as a hostel it's alright overall. The shower head pipe has a hole that leaks water, and the pillow gets warm quickly when you lie on it.

After a long, cold bus ride from bangkok, I reached the hostel at 6am and waited on the couch for check-in. The woman doing the cleaning noticed I was cold and trying to sleep, so she brought me a blanket, shut the windows, and kept the noise down. They also let me into my room at 10am, which helped a lot after such a rough night bus.

The price felt well worth it, and the location worked nicely for my two nights backpacking solo in Thailand. The beds were comfortable and nighttime noise was manageable. Breakfast is available from 8am, though, so for an earlier excursion you'll need snacks or can walk next door to the hostel that starts serving at 7am.
