Wualai Residence

The family running the hotel were so sweet and helpful, and the place was clean and on a quiet street. I liked being in a local-feeling area close to the night market. The room was nice, with a comfortable bed and pillows, good water pressure, and reliable hot water. You can rent a scooter there for an unbeatable price. Really good value, and I recommend it to everyone.

The owners are incredibly welcoming and hospitable, and it's clear they really care about their guests. They're some of the kindest, hardest-working people I've had the privilege to meet. The hotel is clean, beautifully designed, and a great deal for the price. Downstairs there's a seating area with free coffee, Thai tea, and biscuits, a lovely way to start the day. You can also rent a motorbike there for exploring the city and nearby areas. The alley is quiet, balcony rooms have great views, and daily needs are within walking distance.

I've stayed at Hotel Wualai by CMStay many times, and the staff have always been friendly and helpful. It's a little family-run gem in a great part of town. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with strong air conditioning, hot showers, and good water pressure. Scooters and push bikes are available to rent at reception for competitive prices, and the staff can help with taxis, local information, day trips, elephant sanctuaries, and temples. There's a Saturday street market around the corner on Wualai Rd, full of colorful displays, snacks, and little gifts and souvenirs. Photographers will find plenty to capture. Further up the road is Chiang Mai Gate Market, split into three parts. The early market opens around 5 or 6 am, when monks collect food from vendors on their morning rounds. It sells all sorts of things, and locals shop there for daily and weekly supplies through the morning. Across the road, the clothes market runs from around midday until 5 or 6. I'm 6' 4", so the colorful clothes were exciting to see, though I was a bit too large for them. In the same area, the food market serves tasty street food at reasonable prices. It looks especially photogenic at night and stays open until midnight, a little later on weekends. I highly recommend this hotel for a visit to this lively city. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

We really enjoyed staying here. It was very quiet and clean, and the staff were caring and extremely friendly. They carried our suitcases upstairs and gave us a raincoat and umbrella without us needing to ask. I'd absolutely recommend it.
